REVIEWS FOR THREE PUGS AND A CANADIAN SPY

Sara E McMillen - See all my reviews

This review is from: Three Pugs and a Canadian Spy (Paperback)

This book is a fun adventure about three pugs named Beatrice, Cissy, and Ingah. It is written as if the pugs are people, and Stute's use of personification is fun and beautifully used. (Of course, any "pug person" or "dog person," for that matter, knows that dogs are just little people in fur coats.) The three pugs go on an adventure after learning rhR they must vacate their home for cleaning, as they have lived like pigs for months. They go on a whirlwind adventure across the country, and not to give anything away, encounter inventive and exciting characters. Dispersed throughout the book are adorable pictures of the three pugs as well as a few others on their journey. This book is a must-read and a great gift idea for pug people as well as all dog lovers.

Review for Three pugs and a Canadian Spy by Orla Smith

I thought the book was hilarious, sad and had a mysterious side to it too. Reading all of Lela's books, I feel I know Cissy, Ingah and Beatrice so well. They go through what sisters go through together in real life and how they stick together through good and bad. Beatrice is always such a care taker for her sisters. I love their way of thinking and how different all of the sisters are. Always acting before thinking things through , but still able to work things out. The photography is exceptional and the pictures tell a thousand words and as I read the books I actually feel as if they are real people. Very well written and such a fun book.

                    SUMMER PUGS

This review is from: Summer Pugs (Paperback)

What a fun book. Isn't that how it is for all of us, we have something else planned and then our plans get changed? You can just put yourself in their place. The frustration for the pugs of having "Little Debi" come and how she changed their summer plans. Now what would they do with a little tyke. The caretaker in them comes out as they cared day by day for "Little Debi". How nervous her parents were and then how appreciative they were. The lessons that are learned from these books of Lela's is wonderful. Lessons that we as human beings all need to learn. Great book and great photography.

This book has my favorite photograph of the series on its cover. Filled with hilarious photos and a great misadventure revolving around a pug in Southern Poland. A must summer read.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a great book., By Orla Smith "Orla Smith" (Bismarck, ND) - See all my reviews

This review is from: My Name Is Ingah, I Am A Pug (Paperback)

I love this book. I could take little Ingah and just cuddle with her. The cover tells it all. You can just see the uncertainty in Ingahs eyes of leaving her mom and joining her new family. There is a sense of sadness but happiness. Bea is telling her she's boss and Ingah will listen to her and then as the book unfolds, it was fun to see how the sisters grew to accept her and protect her. Isn't that how it is when a new baby arrives in a family. Jealousy but love and concern. Just like Bea and Cissy felt toward Ingah. A wonderful book. A great book for a family that is just getting a new puppy or baby in their home. Great photographs also.

Review of The Sunnyside Pugs

The Pug Series continues with The Sunnyset Pugs by Lela LaBree Stute. In this adventure, the Pugs are stuck at home in a snowstorm with no electric or phone. They must find a way to eat, stay warm, and occupy themselves until the storm passes.

The Sunnyset Pugs is a fun story that young readers will enjoy. As always, the pages are filled with full color photos taken by the author herself. I give this one four stars****.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book on working together,

This review is from: The Sunnyside Pugs (Paperback)

The Sunnyset Pugs was an excellent book on how siblings can work together and have an excellent outcome. I absolutely loved this book. Living in ND where I grew up in the country with lots of snowstorms and getting snowed in once in a while, I could actually put myself in their shoes. How difficult it was for our parents to make sure we were warm and o.k. and how fun it was for the kids to be snowed in and to not have electricity and find something else to entertain us with. The pugs had that same adventure. I love how Bea takes over in the parent role/big sister role. She feels so important. She just takes right over and takes care of her little sisters. Another great lesson for siblings to learn, taking care of each other in hard difficult times. Great book.

Great winter tale of three pugs up to more misadventures. Watch as they get into more mischief with the beautiful winter background. The hidden gem of this book is the plaid pug coats the pugs sport in the great photos.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sunshine Pugs,

By Orla Smith "Orla Smith" (Bismarck, ND) -

This review is from: The Sunshine Pugs (Paperback)

The Sunshine Pugs was such a fun book to read. You could put yourself in that same anxiety, misery and stress as Bea was in just waiting for the mail. I felt so sad for Bea. The pictures were wonderful at showing Bea's feelings.
My emotions as the reader joined Bea's emotions. The "happy ending" of course made the book complete. A very well written book with excellent photography.

and when it does not arrive, be prepared for chaos and confusion! Once again
another great tale.

Another great pug misadventure. This book features the duplicitous yet misunderstood cat Suzette Deville. Watch the three pugs get into another comedy of errors this time involving a jet and a “Turbo-Powered-Super-Spy Machine.”

A very well written book, Dec

This review is from: Wonder Pugs (Paperback)

These "Wonder Pugs" are such a cute threesome and like so many of us , they are worry warts. And of course worried about their "Chewing gum" and if someone would steal it. Isn't that how it is in real life, we worry about the little things. I just love these books about the 3 pugs. For each book I read, I feel I know them all so well and each one has their distinct personalities. Such a well written book and the photographs are wonderful and add so much to the book. All ages will love these books. The pictures tell the whole story so little children that cannot read will still know what the story is all about, just by looking at the pictures. Excellent!! I can just visualize them trying to find the intruder in their home. They are so amusing. Great book.

This book is so much like real life. It's as if the dogs are really human. Isn't that how it is with a family? Family members all have a different place they want to go on vacation or everyone wants to eat at a different restaurant. It's a great book for children to teach them how you have to work together as a family and also that things aren't handed to us, we need to work for what we want. A very good lesson for children in this book. Wonderful pictures and great story.
